Healthy Policies
Healthy policies help make smart, sound choices readily available and easily accessible where we work, learn, play and live. They are a tool for reducing disparities and achieving health equity. CCHD works with partners across the community to develop several types of healthy policies as part of the department’s health promotion and disease prevention efforts. Placemaking
Placemaking is a participatory approach to imagining, planning, designing and managing public spaces. CCHD supports healthy placemaking through a number of its initiatives as it explores use and untapped potential of our shared spaces.
CCHD’s Try 5 Challenge is one placemaking effort maintained by the Department. The challenge aims to get residents out and exploring new and revitalized trails. Learn how to join the challenge here.
Better Choice Retailer
Better Choice Retailer is a free, voluntary program aimed at making it easir for customer to find healthy foods and make healthy choice. Click to learn more.
Firearm Safety
The safest way to store a firearm in the home is locked and unloaded with the ammunition locked in a separate container. A public health initiative to address identified gaps in firearm safety, injury, and violence prevention efforts in Clinton County has been established by CCHD. CCHD works with health, behavioral health, human service, and social service professionals to:
- Provide best practice recommendations for firearm safety and injury prevention.
- Increase safety product access points in Clinton County.
- Increase awareness and familiarity with local firearm safety resources
